Project / Sausi Water Supply
This promised water supply project is located in Sausi on the Ramu Highway, between Lae and Madang, in Papua New Guinea’s Madang Provice and within Middle Ramu LLG. The need for a water supply in Sausi and its adjacent villages was identified by D9600 George Grant in November 2015.
In summary the Sausi project will provide the following benefits:
- delivery of WASH training to the entire population; - upgrade of WASH facilities, - minimising water borne diseases, - eliminating the need for women and children spending time to fetch water over the significant distances theyhave to travel to the current water sources, (this will allow children more time to obtain a basic education and women to allocate time to other practices); - improvement of community health, and - improvement of the local economy with a sustainable water supply.
The beneficiaries of the water project are the villagers in Wards 11&12, the elementary school, the Sausi Primary School, and the EBC facilities (vocational school, church, farm and health centre). Out of these communities a strong and vibrant Water Supply Committee has been selected to run the management aand sustainability program for the water supply.
