RI-USAID Partnership callout for International Sponsors

The partnership between Rotary International and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) combines the business skills and community leadership of Rotary’s volunteers with USAID's technical expertise and government relationships around a sustainable water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) program in developing countries. Rotary and USAID have committed $2 million each to increase access to safe drinking water and sanitation, foster improved hygiene practice, and support community management systems and advocacy for environmentally sustainable, locally appropriate, and effectively financed water and sanitation services in Ghana, Uganda and Madagascar. Local Rotarians in these countries and international sponsors are responsible for raising 10% ($200,000) of Rotary’s $2 million.

The partnership seeks international sponsors to support the implementation of water and sanitation services and WASH advocacy efforts in Ghana and Uganda. International sponsors can select how involved with this exciting initiative:

a)       Donate District Designated Funds (DDF) and/and or cash contributions (donations of at least $2,000 or more preferred) to support the construction of school latrines and hygiene education programs. These investments encourage children, especially girls, to attend school.

b)       Actively provide support and advice to the Ghana Host Committee, and participate in field visits and project updates with them.

c)       Become an advocate and champion of water, sanitation and hygiene globally and particularly in Ghana. Your efforts can help raise awareness and mobilize more resources globally.
