The project is to fund a 120 meter deep boreholde and install a H2Opendoors water purification plant to produce 20,000 liters of bottled water per day. The Mbarara Rotary Club will assist as the local Host club. The project will help the community access clean water and help the sustainability of the Best Future School (BFS). BFS is a free, community -based school which was founded by a member of the Nakivale Rotaract club. The Prior Lake Rotary Club sponsored RI Global Grant GG2122662. The lead member of the Prior Lake club is Rick Olson. The plan is submit the grant application to Rotary Foundation by late February 2021 for funding in the new fiscal year beginning July 1, 2021. Clubs contributions would be called in the 2021-22 fiscal year. Installation would likely occur shortly after August 1. 2021. The living situation in Nakivale is grim with over 140,000 residents totally reliant on the U.N. and some NGOs support. There is definitely not enough water and many do not have access even to the polluted sources and there is an open field of defecation due to lack of even rudimentary latrines.
